Getting started with Systems of Systems

This course is designed for users who want to get started with Systems of Systems. It begins with essential details on setting up module systems as publishers and subscribers for data transfers. Administrators will learn how to establish a governance model that aligns with their organization's needs, along with a way of working model for effective data sharing between systems.

Courses We Offer:

A Modular Approach

The training “A Modular Approach” consists of four separate courses, but it’s recommended to attend them sequentially according to the learning track:

  • Introduction to A Modular Approach
This course provides a broad background to why a company should be working with modularization, what are the key definitions, and what are the fundaments for modularization success. There will be a mix of theoretical models combined with examples from companies that have been successful in modularization.
  • Create a Modular System
This session will show how to create a modular system based on the requirements the product must fulfill using the Modular Function Deployment (MFD®) methodology, what are the key success factors and how to avoid pitfalls in the process.
  • Implement a Modular System
This course provides insight into the implementation of a modular architecture; designing the modules, setting up a modular supply chain to maximize the benefits from modularity and secure that all products can be configured through the system.
  • Governance of a Modular System
This course focuses on the continuous work of governance and maintenance needed to protect and continue develop the modular system to maximize the value of the modular architecture created.

Duration: 8 hours (2hours*4)

Creating a modular system using Modular Function Deployment (MFD®)

The MFD Training consists of six separate sessions, but it’s recommended to attend them sequentially according to the learning track:

  • Introduction to Modular Function Deployment method
Introduction session to strategic modularization and the MFD methodology. The training focuses on the method Modular Function Deployment and its five steps, centering on the theory behind.
  • Clarify Customer Requirements
This course provides an introduction to needs-based market segments and customer values. Learn how to define and prioritize markets, needs and trends. Break-down the customer values to product properties, relating to functions, features and performances.
  • Identify Functions and Solutions
This course focuses on function analysis and concept evaluation. Generate, evaluate and select optimized solution(s) per identified function to identify and limit impact of variance and lifecycle.
  • Propose Modules and Interfaces
This course introduces the module drivers, used to secure the strategic intent for each module. De- and recompose technical solutions into modules based on market coverage, internal efficiency and lifecycle. Define interfaces to protect your modules.
  • Define Variants and Configurations
This course helps you define system arrangement, interfaces and system resources to allow required configurability. Develop product structure and optimize variants for targeted portfolio and roadmaps.
  • Confirm Architecture Feasibility
This course centers on the architecture feasibility and mitigating risks. Learn how to confirm business target fulfilment and harvest the benefits of the module system throughout the supply chain.

Duration: 12 hours (2hours*6)
