My colleague and I were faced with a challenging situation.
We needed to balance the need expressed by the operations director at our client and make sure the product architecture supported their future direction. It was clear early on that the operations organization wanted to utilize the configurable and modular product flexibility on multiple sites. They wanted to be able to introduce modules in one facility, to create an efficient setup, and as the next step transfer modular production to other global sites to ensure competitiveness.
We established way of working together with a cross-functional team from the client. Sourcing, operations and R&D participated and together we could outline a road map and implementation plan to meet their strategic direction and cover their future needs.
Great cooperation and team spirit made this happen.
